You could be the world’s grumpiest traveler if you’re from this country
WHETHER YOU’RE AN AVID TRAVELER or you’re a local living in a country that’s bursting with tourist traffic like Japan, one thing’s for sure, no two nationality approaches travel the same way.
Some people are harder to please than others, some can slug it out in a three-star accommodation while others will flip over a king-sized bed that’s too soft. Some are too vocal and complain way too much while others remain silently angry until it’s time to leave a scathing review.
Which makes you wonder, where are the world’s grumpiest travelers from?
According to a RewardExpert.com study, Spain has the most high maintenance and grumpiest tourists.
“Spain may have a reputation for being a relaxed country and culture, given all the siestas they have to nap away their worries, this apparently stops at the country’s border,” RewardExpert.com wrote.
“Spaniards abroad are impressively ornery: not only are they but most likely to leave one- and two-star reviews (11.73 percent), they are sixth most likely to leave an unimpressed three-star review (18.68 percent) and the fifth least likely to leave a five-star review.”
Ireland and Iceland are close behind, with the Irish being “remarkably cranky” and tourists from Iceland writing mostly grumpy reviews.
On the other end of the spectrums, however, easygoing Russians emerged the world’s happiest travelers.
“Russia takes first place for being home to the world’s happiest tourists. Five-star reviews made up an impressively high 46.16 percent of 70,775 reviews, but this alone would only have had Russia ranked sixth place. Even including the 36.61 percent of reviews with four-star ratings, for a total 82.77 percent positive reviews, it wasn’t quite enough for Russia to rank number one,” RewardExpert.com explained.
“What puts Russia over the top is the fact that it ranked dead last for grumpy, one and two-star reviews, with a shockingly low 4.99 percent of reviews that rated their stay one or two stars.”
Right behind Russia are the Serbian and Lebanese travelers, their ranking being attributed to low incidences of bad reviews. This is followed by travelers from Australia, Belarus, Israel, Georgia, Jordan, and the US.
